The theme of this year's event, brings together law enforcement leaders from around the world, is Navigating the Way Ahead.
"The topics to be discussed include police legitimacy and public trust, international cooperation, strategic and operational change and relationships with the media," Minister for Home Affairs Brendan O'Connor said in his conference address.
"I congratulate the Australian Federal Police for the leadership it has shown in the international policing arena, including by hosting this prestigious conference."
The Australian Federal Police is a partner in Pearls in Policing - a Dutch-led international policing think-tank that provides the opportunity to share knowledge and discuss issues facing the law enforcement community.
This is the first time that the forum has been held outside the Netherlands.
Pearls in Policing gives law enforcement executives a forum to engage in a professional exchange and explore ways to implement a common, global vision of the future.
It provides a platform for meetings, learning and the implementation of best practice.
