The event, organised by the Biometrics Institute, will provide a forum for attendees to discuss biometrics in identity management and immigration services, and to see the latest developments in biometric technology.
Biometrics Institute General Manager Isabelle Moeller said the conference was a "must-attend event, bringing the private and public sectors together to discuss how biometrics can help to strengthen homeland security, combat identity fraud, and create efficiencies".
"We are extremely pleased that the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner, Marie Shroff, has agreed to address this forum about the importance of data protection in the context of biometrics," Ms Moeller said.
Arron Baker, Group Manager (Acting), Service Design of New Zealand Department of Labour, will speak about Biometrics and Immigration.
Business Advisor Fiona Lavin and Senior Business Advisor Tim Waldron from Identity Services of the Department of Internal Affairs will address Identity Management Issues, as will Janette Haughton, Assistant Secretary Identity Branch from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Australia.

The Biometrics Institute is an independent, not-for-profit peak body representing over 100 organisations in Australia and New Zealand.
